Commissioning of USS Daniel Inouye Expected in December 2021
The 509-foot ship is the Navy’s 68th Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, and it carries the “Go for Broke” motto of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in which Senator Inouye served.
School Renamed in Honor of Late US Senator Inouye
The school is situated at Schofield Barracks, which was the home of the 442nd regimental combat team, the unit that Senator Inouye served in during WWII.
Inouye Posthumously Honored with “Spirit of the Warrior” Award
The US Army Pacific honored US Senator Daniel K. Inouye posthumously with the command’s highest civilian award.

US Senator Daniel Inouye was treated and released from the hospital after sustaining a minor cut to the back of his head in a fall this morning, officials said.

Sen. Inouye is the 7th American recipient of the award, and the first foreigner of Japanese descent to receive the honor.
