The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Watch for Kaua’i and Ni’ihau through this afternoon.

The wet weather is the result of a combination of a strong low aloft, and abundant low-level moisture. The impact will be heavy showers and thunderstorms over the western portion of the state.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say that runoff from heavy rains will be higher than normal because the ground is already saturated from earlier rainfall. That will result in increased potential for flash flooding and landslides.
