A fire along Honokohau Road on Maui was called extinguished at 5:39 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21.
The fire burned a total of a half-acre, and came as close as 15 feet to three homes in the area, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Occupants evacuated the nearby homes, but there was no damage to the residences, officials said.
A storage shed sustained $500 in damage when it was scorched by the fire, Mainaga said.
This fire was located about an eighth of a mile into the valley, on the left hand side.
