This Friday, April 11 the Makena Beach & Golf Resort hosts their monthly Winery of the Month dinner.

Held at the resort’s Molokini Bar & Grille, the five-course sunset feast is designed by Chef Marc McDowell and Chef Kurt Lesmerises and features Orin Swift Cellars with such wine labels as Blindfold, Manequin, Prisoner, Saldo and Palermo.

The menu starts with an amuse bouche of Blindfold Wine and freshly shucked Scookum Oysters and limoncello cream.

The first course presents a  Seafood “Louie” Salad of chilled shrimp, scallop and crab with Kumu Farms romaine hearts, asparagus, boiled quail egg, Kalamata olives and Chef’s garden cherry tomatoes. Whew!

This is paired with Swift Cellar’s Manequin Wine.

Next up is Palermo Wine, served alongside Prosciutto-Wrapped Opakapaka. The dish features pan-seared, fresh, local snapper; crispy asparagus polenta and a frisee and asparagus salad with a morel mushroom butter broth.

It’s not just shellfish and seafood.

The third course features Asian Marinated Malama Farms Pork Belly accompanied by gingered Molokai sweet potatoes, five-spice apples and paired with Saldo wine.

This is followed by a New York Steak Au Poivre. Cast iron skillet-seared vintage natural beef with a black peppercorn crust is served with Parisian potatoes, upcountry asparagus and a cognac and green peppercorn sauce along with a glass of Prisoner Wine.

Lastly is the dessert course in which a  Macadamia Nut Rum Tart comes accompanied by coconut whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and is $120 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.
