Winds Weakening, Increased Showers Late in Week

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Maui County waters through 6 a.m. Tuesday for east winds up to 30 knots and rough seas up to 13 feet.
A High Surf Advisory is in effect for the east facing shores of Maui and Molokai through Tuesday at 6 p.m. Surf heights of 5 to 8 foot faces are expected.

Looking Ahead
Winds will gradually weaken through Tuesday as a cold front slowly approaches from the west. The front is forecast to stall late in the day Tuesday, but a weak trough will track from east to west across the island chain Tuesday night through Thursday brining an increase in clouds and showers. The trough is expected to merge with the stalled front near Kauai Thursday through the weekend bringing unsettled weather.

Today mostly sunny skies are expected. Windward spots will get morning scattered showers with clearing as the day goes on. Leeward spots will be mostly sunny with just isolated showers. High temperatures from 83° to 88°. East to southeast winds are forecast from 10 to 15 mph.

East to southeast winds are expected in the evening from 10 to 15 mph. Low temperatures from 69° to 74°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the evening with scattered showers for windward spots. Leeward spots should be partly cloudy with isolated showers and clearing as the night goes on.
