Seabury Hall Claims MIL D-II Soccer Crowns With Wins

Seabury Hall girls and boys soccer teams claimed Maui Interscholastic League Division II soccer championships Wednesday at War Memorial Stadium with a pair of wins over St. Anthony.
The girls team defeated the Trojans, 2-1, in the nightcap of a doubleheader, while the boys team rolled to a 4-0 win.
Seabury girls improved to 2-7-0 in MIL play. Jenna Carvalho scored the Spartans’ first goal in the 26th minute with a putback shot off a save by St. Anthony’s goalie.
Two minutes later Seabury’s Alissa Lei Walin had her shot attempt ricochet off the left post as the Spartans led 1-0 at halftime.
St. Anthony girls fell to 0-9-0.
Seabury boys are now 3-6-0, while St. Anthony boys dropped to 0-10-0.
As MIL Division II champions Seabury Hall will represent the MIL at the state D-II tournament Feb. 17-20 (girls) and Feb. 25-27 (boys) on Oahu.
In MIL Division I soccer Wednesday, Lahainaluna defeated King Kekaulike 2-1 at Lahaina on a goal by Marcos Lopez in the 36th minute.
The Lunas (7-4-0) and Na Alii (7-3-0) are both tied for third place in the boys MIL D-I standings with 21 points.
Kamehameha Maui (9-1) is currently in first place with 27 points, followed by Baldwin (8-2) with 24 points. The two teams play on Friday at War Memorial Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m. The girls teams — Baldwin (8-1-0) and KS-Maui (7-1-1) — play at 7 p.m.
