    Looking Ahead

    Winds are forecast to become variable Tuesday ahead of an approaching front. A land and sea breeze regime is expected. Minimal rainfall is expected along the front as it moves through Tuesday night. Another round of cool and breezy northerly winds will develop behind the front on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by typical trade wind conditions during the weekend.

     

    Today 

    Today we expect mostly sunny skies and isolated morning showers. Partly cloudy skies with scattered showers for interior and mauka areas in the afternoon as the sea breeze develops and convection takes place. High temperatures from 77° to 82°. Winds are variable up to 15 mph.

    Tonight

    North winds are expected to increase from 10 to 20 mph tonight. Mostly clear skies with isolated showers. Low temperatures from 67° to 73°.

    Meteorologist Malika Dudley
    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of the Hawaii News Now weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in weather reporting and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011. In 2019, Malika was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter in the category of Science Reporting for her Big Island Now news report on what was happening beneath the sea surface at the ocean entry of the Puna lava flow.
