Q: Where can I take my cat to get spayed? She enjoys some time outdoors and I don’t want her to contribute to our island’s already large cat population by having a litter of kittens.

A: You can bring your cat to the upcoming free spay/neuter clinic being held by the Maui Humane Society June 21 to 25.

This large-scale spay/neuter clinic, called a “Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital” or “MASH” clinic, is held outdoors under tents to accommodate a large volume of pets in surgery and recovery.

Pets receive the same quality care as they would in any veterinary clinic with surgeries being conducted by multiple licensed, professional veterinarians who are highly skilled at performing large numbers of high quality spays and neuters in these settings.

Since April of 2015, MHS has held nine MASH clinics with over 3,600 animals spayed and neutered at no charge to the members of the community. The goal for the upcoming clinic is to spay/neuter 600 cats.

As an incentive, for every intact cat brought into the clinic to be spayed/neutered, individuals will be entered for a chance to win a $25 gift card.
