    Looking Ahead

    Trade wind weather will continue through the week with clouds and showers favoring windward and mauka spots. Passing showers will reach leeward areas from time to time during periods of stronger trades.

     

    Today

    Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered windward showers during the day. Leeward spots should be partly sunny with isolated showers. East winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph. High temperatures from 84° to 89°.

    UV index at 12 (“extreme” exposure level)

     

    Tonight

    Northeast winds are expected from 10 to 20 mph. Showers likely for windward spots with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Clearer skies are forecast for lee areas. Low temperatures from 70° to 75°.

    Meteorologist Malika Dudley
    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of the Hawaii News Now weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in weather reporting and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011. In 2019, Malika was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter in the category of Science Reporting for her Big Island Now news report on what was happening beneath the sea surface at the ocean entry of the Puna lava flow.
