Deep tropical moisture is expected to continue producing heavy downpours and has elevated the chance of thunderstorms over the Hawaiian Islands today.

A Flash Flood Watch is therefore posted through 6 p.m. this afternoon.

Streams remain elevated and the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rains in many areas so the risk for flash flooding is elevated. Outdoor activities near streams should be postponed. It doesn’t need to be raining in your area for flash flooding to occur. Heavy rain upstream can create dangerous flash flooding farther downstream. Remember, turn around, don’t drown.
