    Looking Ahead

    A cold front is forecast to pass over Maui County on Wednesday bringing in increase in showers before dissipating Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday, drier weather is expected but another cold front is forecast for the weekend.



    We have southwest winds today around 15 mph in the morning and becoming sea breezes by the afternoon. High temperatures are forecast from 79° to 84°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected with scattered showers.

    UV index at 8 (“very high” exposure level)



    Northeast winds are forecast around 10 to 15 mph tonight. Mostly cloudy skies are expected with scattered windward showers and isolated leeward showers. Low temperatures from 66° to 71°.

    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of the Hawaii News Now weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in weather reporting and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011. In 2019, Malika was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter in the category of Science Reporting for her Big Island Now news report on what was happening beneath the sea surface at the ocean entry of the Puna lava flow.
