The Nissan then collided into a white 2016 Ford Focus also traveling southbound on Piʻilani Highway, according to police. The operator of the Ford Focus, a 74-year-old Kīhei woman, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 43-year-old Kīhei man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center. Police say alcohol was a factor in the deadly crash.
