Maui fire crews doused a fire on Piʻihana Road in Wailuku on Friday afternoon, saying crews arrived on scene to find abandoned vehicles and miscellaneous scrapped items on fire.

The fire was quickly brought under control and crews are currently overhauling the pile of scrapped material to fully extinguish the blaze, said Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

The incident was reported at 2:25 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 in the area of Piʻihana Farms at the end of Piʻihana Road.

Crews responding to the scene included: Engine 1, Engine 10, Hazmat 10, Tanker 10 and Tanker 14.
