Fire at Luxury Wailea Condo Causes $1.7 Million in Damage
A fire at a luxury condo duplex in Wailea caused an estimated $1.7 million in damage to the structure late Friday night.
The fire was reported at 11:51 p.m. on May 1, at a single-story, 4,300 square foot duplex condo located at 3100 Wailea Alanui Drive.
Fire officials say the structure was unoccupied and no injuries were reported during the incident.
After knocking down the main fire, crews also located fire on the roof and had extended into the void space between the roof covering and the decking below. Firefighters had to tear off the metal covering to access and extinguish the stubborn fire. Crews also battled a vehicle fire in the attached carport.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, and there are no indications at this time of an intentionally set fire.
The fire was brought under control early Saturday morning at 12:50 a.m., and was fully extinguished later in the day.
Crews responding to the scene included: Engine 14, Ladder 14, Engine 6, Tanker 14, Engine 10, Rescue 10, Engine 5, Hazmat 10 and two battalion chiefs.
The extent of damage to contents is unknown at this time.
