Campus Preparation Underway at University of Hawaiʻi Maui College

Administrators at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College continue to prepare the campus for student arrival on Aug. 24, 2020.

Due to COVID-19, administrators say the college is carefully following all guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and faculty.  This includes temperature checks, sanitizing and disinfecting stations around campus, enforcing proper distancing throughout and UV cleaning.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College also has a student mobile app that utilizes QR codes for contact tracing.  With the app, students and faculty can check in and out of buildings and classrooms, effectively tracking their movement throughout campus.

The college will also be offering free testing for faculty and students.

With a Ph.D. in nursing and an emphasis on pandemic response in healthcare institutions, Dr. Denise Cohen, Professor of Nursing and Head of the Campus Health Center has helped UHMC maintain and enhance proper procedures to prepare for the Fall semester.
