Harbor Lights COVID-19 Cluster Now at 97 Cases
The COVID-19 cluster at the Harbor Lights condominium complex in Kahului is now estimated at 97, with another 57 linked to those within the Pacific Islander community, according to an update provided by the County of Maui on Monday afternoon.
The cluster began to appear in late December and was connected with holiday singing practice, according to health officials.
County officials report that nearly 40% of Maui’s COVID-19 cases since Dec. 29 have either been from the Harbor Lights cluster or from within the Pacific Islander community.
Maui Food Bank will be organizing another food distribution program this week at the condominium complex. Another round of free COVID-19 testing at Harbor Lights is scheduled today (Jan. 12, 2021) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Minit Medical has administered 14,540 COVID-19 tests, with 310 testing positive (including Harbor Lights testing) since the program began in mid-October.
For the week of Jan. 3-10, county officials say 80% of the positive cases in the community and visitor testing programs were residents with no travel, 18% were residents (with some travel connection) and 2% were visitors (non-Hawaiʻi residents), that were travel-related.
