Pre-nursing students residing on Maui have the opportunity to enroll in a free Fall 2024 exam preparation course for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, which is the admission exam for nursing schools.

The hybrid course will run for 10 weeks from Oct. 7 to Dec. 14 and meet online on Tuesday evenings and in-person Friday evenings at UH Maui College’s Kahului campus.

Students will be provided with access to a variety of learning materials and instruction to gain familiarity with the exam format and review the four knowledge areas tested on essential skills test, including reading, math, science and English/language usage.

The course’s goal is for students to achieve passing scores on the essential skills test required for admission into their desired nursing school or program. The coursework will also improve their scores if they have previously taken test. After passing the course, students’ essential skills exam fee will be paid for.

Applicants must be Maui residents, ages 18 and older, and be pursuing admission into nursing school. More information and the application can be accessed at www.hnkop.org/kealahoimai or contact kealahoi@hawaii.edu.

This opportunity is sponsored by Hui No Ke Ola Pono’s Kealahoʻimai program, which promotes Native Hawaiian workforce development in the healthcare and wellness industries.
