Rainy weather forecast with remnants of Gilma lingering north
Rain remains in the short-range forecast for Maui County as unstable tropical moisture from the remnants of former Tropical Storm Gilma pass north of the Hawaiian Islands, according to the National Weather Service.
“This will be more of a beneficial rain event for Hawaiʻi and not a wind threat as the best dynamics for wind and weather will remain on the north and east sides of the remnant low center,” forecasters said.
Remnants of former Tropical Storm Hector won’t be far behind as a weak weather disturbance moves east-to-west across the state from Saturday night into Sunday. The East Pacific high will drift south and strengthen early next week, increasing stability across the region and keep trade winds blowing from moderate to breezy levels.
Gilda and Hector have dissipated to the point where they’re no longer weather systems tracked by Central Pacific Hurricane Center. Tropical Depression Hone continues to move farther west of the islands.
There are no watches, warnings, or advisories as of this morning, the weather service said.
