***An update as of 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, is now available at the following LINK.
The latest update on Tropical Storm ANA was just released by the Central Pacific Hurricane Center. There isn’t a great deal that has changed with this update. Intensity and forecast track remain relatively unchanged, though the center of the storm is expected to pass farther south. It’s important to note that effects from a system like this can extend well past the center of the storm.
Changes:
Forward motion has picked up to 12 mph, still going west
The turn toward the west-northwest has begun, shifting northwest Friday
Track pushed a little more south
Tropical Storm Ana was last located near 14.6 N and 151.9 W, about 410 miles SSE of Hilo, Hawaiʻi; 525 miles SE of Kahului, Maui; 570 miles SE of Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi; 540 miles SE of Lānaʻi City; and 610 miles SE of Honolulu, Oʻahu on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2014 at 5 p.m.
