Hawaiian Airlines Retrofitting Interisland Aircraft

Hawaiian Airlines’ Boeing 717 aircraft are getting an interior makeover with an island-style cabin redesign and new lightweight main cabin seating from Acro Aircraft Seating Ltd.  The first of 18 aircrafts receiving the retrofit has been completed.

“These new, modern design elements rejuvenate the interiors of our Boeing 717s while allowing us to deliver a consistent on-board experience for our guests,” said Peter Ingram, chief commercial officer for Hawaiian Airlines. “The new lightweight seats are engineered to ensure a maximum amount of personal space without compromising legroom or comfort.”

When all retrofitting is completed later this year, all 18 aircraft will share a uniform, consistent design providing a familiar experience to passengers. Previously, there were five different cabin configurations throughout the Neighbor Island fleet of planes.

The new seats are designed to evoke high-performance automotive design, and complement the airline’s punctual arrival record and quick interisland flights. Seatbacks are outfitted with a “tablet table” made of solid aluminum, designed for complimentary beverages and the use of tablet devices.

The new color scheme of the cabin is themed on the elements of the islands through earth tones, deep aqua, and accents of fuchsia and sky blue. Other features include new seat covers and arm caps in the first-class section, new carpeting and new forward windows on select aircraft.
