Increase in Windward Showers Today

The High Surf Advisory has been extended until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for surf from 5 to 8 feet along south facing shores. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
A Small Craft Advisory has been posted for the Pailolo and ʻAlenuihāhā channels as well as Māʻalaea Bay through 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. East winds up to 25 knots and rough seas of 6 to 10 feet are expected.

Today we expect high temperatures from 83° to 88°. East winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected for windward and mauka areas with numerous showers. Mostly clear for leeward spots with isolated showers and partly cloudy skies in the afternoon.

East winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph tonight. Mostly cloudy skies with numerous showers for windward and mauka spots. Leeward areas should get partly cloudy skies and scattered showers. Low temperatures from 69° to 74° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Winds are expected to weaken slightly on Wednesday and Thursday. A batch of showers moving in from the east is forecasted to increase showers, especially over windward sections of the Big Island and Maui from early Wednesday morning into Thursday. A front approaching the islands from the northwest is forecast to further weaken the trade winds Friday through the weekend.
