Looking Ahead
An unsettled trade wind weather pattern is forecast to continue through Wednesday. Maui has been included in the Flash Flood Watch due to heavy, persistent rain that fell yesterday night. An estimated 6 inches fell over higher elevations of Hana and Kapahulu. The potential for locally heavy rainfall still exists so any additional heavy rain could lead to flooding over the next 24 to 36 hours for Maui. Afternoon convection is also a possibility today with trades being light enough for these to develop for interior and leeward locations. A drier and more stable trade wind weather regime is expected to return late in the week.
Today
Partly to mostly cloudy with windward showers likely. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. Isolated morning showers and scattered afternoon showers for leeward areas. High temperatures from 83° to 88°. Variable winds around 15 mph.
UV index at 10 (“very high” exposure level)
Tonight
Variable winds around 15 mph. Mostly cloudy skies with windward showers likely and scattered showers for leeward areas. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. Low temperatures from 73° to 78°.
