High Surf Warning in Effect for Maui & Molokai

High Surf Warning: North shores of Maui and Molokai from noon Wednesday High Surf Warning: North and west shores of Molokai and north shores of Maui through 6 p.m. Thursday.
Small Craft Advisory: All island waters through 6 p.m. Thursday.
Special Weather Statement: Very windy conditions are expected this weekend. These winds will be especially gusty at higher elevations and through mountain gaps and downsloping areas. If you have outdoor activities planned, you may want to postpone them or reconsider your plans.

Maui Surf Forecast
North: Surf is overhead to double overhead in the morning. Showing best for Ho’okipa eastward. The best breaks could get up to triple overhead on the sets. Pe’ahi will see sets up to 16 to 20 foot faces or more early in the day and easing through the day.
West: Surf is pretty flat today for most westerly exposures with sets up to waist high from time to time at the best spots. Exposures with west-northwest wrap (and not blocked by our outer islands) will be bigger.
South: Surf is pretty flat today for most westerly exposures with sets up to waist high from time to time at the best spots.
Our current elevated west-northwest swell is slated to peak into early Thursday morning up to double or triple overhead at the best exposures. Bigger at Pe’ahi (Jaws) with up to 20 foot faces. The swell starts easing into Friday but a reinforcement is right behind it. The new swell is expected to build Friday and peak late that day, then hold into Saturday morning and ease late Saturday into Sunday. Another swell is expected on the 25th as well.
Saturday and Saturday night a High Surf Advisory is forecast for east facing shores.
A small southwest swell is forecast for the 22nd through the 24th.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
