Alive & Well Recoups After SUV Backs Into Business

Owners of Alive & Well in Kahului spent the last two days cleaning broken glass and restocking shelves after the driver of an SUV accidentally reversed into the business on Tuesday night.

The incident happened during work hours, shortly after 6 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2020 at the store, located at 340 Hāna Highway.

According to the business, the driver confused the accelerator with the brake and reversed into the storefront.

Owner Darren Jones confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident even though there were customers and employees inside.

The store closed immediately and remained closed Wednesday and Thursday for clean up but will be open for business at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020.
