Hawaii Five-0’s Daniel Dae Kim Tests COVID-19 Positive After Returning to Honolulu

Hawaii Five-0 actor Daniel Dae Kim announced, and the state Department of Health confirmed, that the Hawaiʻi resident is among those who tested positive for COVID-19.

Kim traveled from New York City to Honolulu while asymptomatic and reported exhibiting symptoms upon his arrival back home in Hawaiʻi.

According to a personal video Kim posted yesterday, he’s been home since last Sunday, and tested positive on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Hawai‘i State Senator Clarence K. Nishihara also is among those who tested positive for COVID-19 in Hawai‘i.

As of Thursday afternoon, there were a total of 26 cases in Hawaiʻi including 18 on Oʻahu 5 on Maui, 2 on Kauaʻi and 1 on Hawaiʻi Island.

“He followed the recommended protocol with travel: (1) Self-Isolate at Home, (2) Monitor Your Health, and (3) Contact Your Healthcare Provider,” health officials said.

Health officials also reiterated their message that non-essential travel is not recommended at this time.

For those who must travel, including those who are returning home from vacation, work or school, the department is asking them to take serious precautions to help avoid spreading the coronavirus in the community.

“If you have traveled, monitor your health for 14 days and if you develop symptoms of either a fever and cough or fever and shortness of breath, call your healthcare provider,” the Department of Health advised.

The DOH advises ALL travelers to: (1) Self-monitor their health for 14 days; and (2) Stay home and practice social distancing as much as possible.
