The Public Utilities Commission on Monday approved temporary emergency changes to Young Brothers’ sailing schedule for 30 days.  The changes take effect immediately and will result in an amended weekly sailing schedule for Maui and Hawaiʻi counties.

Company representatives say the request was made as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and decreasing cargo volumes.

Under the revised schedule, the twice weekly route to Kaunakakai on Molokaʻi is reduced to a single combined sailing with arrival to Kamalapau on Lānaʻi on Sunday morning and Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi on Sunday evening.
