Wade Ebersole

Maui Health announced today the appointment of Wade Ebersole as Chief Executive Officer, effective Oct. 25, 2026. Ebersole has served as interim CEO since May 3, 2026, and was previously Maui Health’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Since joining Maui Health in 2021, Ebersole has helped improve operational and financial performance while supporting quality and safety initiatives and the expansion of outpatient services. His leadership has also focused on building a sustainable local workforce through education and training partnerships that create pathways into health care careers for Maui residents.

“Wade brings the operational experience, strategic perspective, and commitment to community that Maui Health needs for the years ahead,” said Bechara Choucair, MD, chair of the Maui Health Board of Directors. “His leadership has helped expand access to specialty care, strengthen our clinical capabilities, and advance partnerships essential to our future. The Board is confident in his ability to lead Maui Health’s continued growth, support our workforce, and deliver on our mission.”

During his interim tenure, Ebersole has continued to advance Maui Health’s strategic priorities. Under his leadership, Maui Health worked with the state of Hawaiʻi and Kaiser Permanente to secure funding for the approximately $65 million restoration and modernization of Kula Hospital. The project will bring essential services back to Upcountry Maui and support the reopening of Hale Makamae and the return of its long-term care residents to the Kula campus.

“I am honored to continue leading Maui Health and grateful for the Board’s confidence,” said Ebersole. “I am incredibly proud of the way our teams have responded to extraordinary challenges while continuing to improve care with compassion and respect. As we look ahead, I am committed to investing deeply in our people and expanding partnerships that create greater access to excellent care. Working in a mission-driven health system and serving this community has been a profound professional gift. I look forward to working in harmony with our team and partners to build a healthier future for Maui and Lānaʻi.”

Ebersole also brings experience leading through complex and challenging circumstances. He served as Maui Health’s incident commander during the 2023 Maui wildfires and has guided the organization’s ongoing response to this year’s storms

Before joining Maui Health, Ebersole held executive leadership positions at other health systems, most recently serving as Chief Administrative Officer at Denver Health. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Goshen College and his master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
