The incident was reported at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, by the woman’s boyfriend who was also diving in the area.

Rescue 10, responding with Air 1, spotted the woman about a mile West of the area she was last seen at about 5 p.m., said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

The victim was air lifted from her location on the cliffs and returned by Air 1 back to the beach at Honomanu, Mainaga said.
