Dec. 30, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 3,484 new cases in Hawaiʻi
The state Department of Health is reporting a COVID-19 count of 3,484 new cases today, surpassing the previous record for daily new cases of 2,205 reported on Sunday, Dec. 26. CDC recommends shortened isolation and quarantine for COVID-19 infections
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today issued an announcement saying it is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to 5 days, if asymptomatic, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others.

There has been an average of 1,075 cases daily over the last seven days, with todayʻs count rising to 1,828, the highest single daily count for Hawaiʻi since the pandemic began.
Dec. 23, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 1,511 new cases in Hawaiʻi, 3 deaths
There were 1,511 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi today, including 1,293 on Oʻahu, and 101 in Maui County.
There were also three new deaths–two on Hawaiʻi Island, and one on Kauaʻi.
Statewide, there were 68 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Thursday. As of this morning, there are 5 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on Maui, including one in the ICU.
