Hawaiian Electric Releases Sustainability Report

As the 50th state marks Earth Day 2020, Hawaiian Electric is sharing its 13th annual Sustainability Report, Building a Stronger Hawai‘i TOGETHER.

Hawai‘i Coronavirus Total Now 584: 4 New Cases, Maui Total is 108

Maui County has 2 new cases for a total of 108 confirmed positive. Of the 108 cases in Maui County, at least 57 have been released from isolation, and 7 have required hospitalization. Hawaiʻi Island also reported two new cases. Oʻahu and Kauaʻi had no new cases today.

Seabury Hall Reschedules Graduation for July 25, 2020

Seabury Hall on Maui announced that it will hold its commencement ceremony for the senior class of 2020 on Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the school’s Olinda campus. Seabury Hall reports that it will adhere to social distancing guidelines and rules that will be in place on Maui in July to determine the size, scope and final scheduling of the event.

COVID-19 Enforcement on Maui Results in 146 Citations in Week

Maui police issued a total of 146 citations over the past seven days for violations related COVID-19 enforcement efforts. Of the Maui citations issued, nearly half were in Kīhei where 70 citations were issued over the course of a week.

To uplift the community, teachers and staff of Pōmaika‘i Elementary School created a music video after receiving heartbreaking news from the Hawaii Department of Education who gave notice last week Friday that schools will be closed for the rest of the year. Maui has a fourth COVID-19 related death. Maui County has 2 new cases for a total of 106 confirmed positive. Of the 106 cases in Maui County, at least 54 have been released from isolation, and 7 have required hospitalization.

454 Out-of-State Passengers Arrive in Hawai‘i on Saturday; 25 on Maui

On Saturday, April 18, a total of 454 people arrived in Hawaiʻi from out-of-state including 109 visitors and 157 residents, according to new data compiled by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority. On Maui, there were 25 individuals who arrived from out-of-state including six crew members, 11 residents and eight visitors.

Checkpoints Aim to Add Layer of Protection for Hāna

Letter: Mayor Victorino Urges Governor to Reconsider Rules Related to Exercise on the Beach

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino today sent a letter to Governor Ige urging him to reconsider or clarify rules “to expressly allow exercise activities to occur on the beaches.”  The letter comes on the heels of Governor Ige’s latest proclamation that includes an order that closes all state beaches.
