Matson Announces Second Quarter Results

Matson Inc., a leading US carrier in the Pacific, has reported a net income of $9.9 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2015, ending June 30. Net income for the quarter ending June 30, 2014 was $18.1 million, or $0.42 per diluted share.

Hawaiian Airlines has appointed Rock Tang as senior director of corporate real estate. He is responsible for managing Hawaiian Airlines’ corporate real estate interests, including its business relationships with domestic and international airports, lease negotiations, concessions, properties, projects and construction, facility planning and design.

Arc of Maui Flatbread Fundraiser Slated for Aug. 25

Arc of Maui County will hold its first annual fundraiser at Flatbread Co. in Pā‘ia, on Aug. 25, from 4 to 10 p.m. A percentage of food sales and all proceeds from the silent auction will pay for new recreational and educational equipment for the adult day programs.

Rep. Gabbard Introduces HIRE Vets Act

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D, 2nd District) and Rep. Paul Cook (R, CA-8th District) introduced the HIRE Vets Act of 2015 (H.R. 3286). This bipartisan bill would promote a voluntary and efficient program of private sector recruiting, hiring and retaining of veterans who served honorably in the US military.

Hāna Ranch to Open Provisions Restaurant in Pā‘ia

Hāna Ranch will open Hāna Ranch Provisions in Pā‘ia next month—its first restaurant on the island of Maui. The Alexander & Baldwin Inc. Board of Directors has promoted Christopher J. Benjamin as its CEO effective Jan. 1, 2016. Benjamin is currently the president and COO of A&B and president of A&B Properties Inc., a wholly owned real estate subsidiary of A&B. Stanley M. Kuriyama will retire as CEO on Dec. 31, 2015, and will continue to serve as A&B’s executive chairman of the board.
