Merrie Monarch 2016 – Five Maui Hālau Compete
Tonight, there are a total of 29 performances, with Maui hālau scheduled to appear throughout the lineup in the following order: (1) Pukalani Hula Hale – Kumu Hiʻilei Maxwell-Juan – Pukalani & Kahului, Maui; (2) Hālau o Ka Hanu Lehua – Kumu Kamaka Kukona – Waikapū, Maui; (4) Moana’s Hula Hālau – Kumu Raquel Dudoit – Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi; (11) Hālau Kekuaokalāʻauʻalaʻiliahi – Kumu Haunani & ʻIliahi Paredes – Wailuku, Maui; (17) Hālau Kekuaokalāʻauʻalaʻiliahi – Kumu Haunani & ʻIliahi Paredes – Wailuku, Maui (Kāne); and (27) Hālau Nā Lei Kaumaka O Uka – Kumu Nāpua Greig – Kula, Maui.
Maui Police Launch “U Drive. U Text. U Pay” Campaign
The Maui Police Department will be participating in the national “U Drive. U Text. U Pay” campaign. Additional enforcement of Hawaii’s Mobile Electronic Device Law is planned starting on April 8th and continuing until April 13th.

UPDATE: 9:27 a.m. 4/1/16, The accident has since been cleared. Significant delays can be expected as traffic resumes its normal flow. Some motorists report that they were sitting in traffic for about 45 minutes before getting through.
