Amendments Considered for Maui’s “Show Me the Water” Policy
The Maui County Water Resources Committee will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at 9 a.m. in the Council Chambers to hear proposed amendments meant to lessen the force of the county’s current “Show Me the Water” policy.

State Investigating Dead, Missing Albatross at Kaʻena Point
A completed nest inventory yesterday revealed that there were a total of 15 nests that were destroyed with either smashed, dead, or missing eggs. Of these nests, 12 of the attending adults are missing and bodies of three adult birds were found. Seabird monitoring cameras and sound equipment are also missing with a replacement value of $3,100.
2016 Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K Run/Walk
The Hyundai Hope on Wheels returns to Maui for the 2016 5K Run/Walk as organizers work to raise funds in the fight against pediatric cancer. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. at Whalers Village in Kāʻanapali.

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health is reminding the public that, effective Jan. 1, 2016, residents and visitors alike must be at least age 21 year old in order to buy tobacco products and electronic smoking devices (e-cigarettes) in the state.
Confirmed Big Island Dengue Cases Rise to 190
Since the last update on Dec. 24, the Hawai‘i Department of Health reports that the number of confirmed dengue cases has risen from 176 to 190 as of Dec. 30, 2015.
