Proposed revisions to the draft Lānaʻi Community Plan update are now available on the council’s web site, Planning Committee Chair Don Couch announced today.

Anthony Bourdain’s episode of his show “Parts Unknown” that he filmed in Maui County earlier this year, is set to air on June 14, 2015 on CNN. Maui’s own Sheldon Simeon, the executive chef at Mala Wailea and Migrant Maui restaurants Tweeted that he was, “blessed and honored to share some food with @bourdain.” He also hash-tagged the Parts Unknown program saying they made a quick stop at Grandma’s Coffee House in Kula before starting their adventure.

An eight-year veteran of the Maui Police Department was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, and refusal to submit to a breath, blood or urine test, police said.

Fetus Discovered at Kahului Waste Water Facility, Deemed Non-Criminal

Maui police investigated the discovery on Friday, May 22, 2015, of a fetus at the Kahului-Wailuku Waste Water Treatment Plant. Authorities have since determined that the fetus, which measured 7-inches “was most likely the result of a miscarriage being flushed into the sewage system.” Police say the case has since been deemed “non-criminal in nature.”

Two former Maui residents were found guilty of fraud in connection with their operation of a $26 million Ponzi scheme, according to the US Justice Department.

State Settles Lawsuit Over Driver’s Test Translations

The federal lawsuit alleged that the DOT discriminated against foreign-born residents by not offering a translated exam for a period of more than five years after previously existing translations were removed from service when additional questions needed to be added to the exam.
