The on-scene investigation into Wednesday’s Lāna‘i plane crash is expected to wrap up on Monday, according to federal officials.

A swell generating “extra-large to giant surf” is expected to generate 25- to 35-foot surf along the north and west facing shores of affected islands beginning late Saturday.

All victims of Wednesday’s plane crash on Lāna‘i have been recovered and were taken to the department’s forensic facility in Wailuku.

County officials have since confirmed that the pilot and two Department of Planning employees suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Two other planning employees were in critical condition and a deputy attorney for Corporation Counsel was in serious condition.

Police say they are looking for Kristopher Michael Sharrott, 40, for questioning in the case.
