Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa reflects on the contributions of the late US Senator Daniel Inouye, and the anticipated impact that his passing will have in Maui County.

Officials with Maui Crime Stoppers have confirmed that 46-year-old Karen Brown Young has since been located. Authorities say there is no further interest in the missing person case, and thanked the public for their help.

The victim, described as a 53-year-old man from Kuau, was transported to the Hana Clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.

A home fire in Lahaina caused an estimated $200,000 in damages early Saturday morning, December 22, 2012. The incident was first reported at 1:13 a.m. at a single story, three-bedroom home, located at 233 Lahainaluna Road in West Maui.

While the report confirms a hydrologic connection between the Lahaina facility’s treated wastewater injection wells and the near-shore seeps, monthly sampling by Hawaii Department of Health has detected no bacterial indicators.
