President Barack Obama delivered remarks today at the 9/11 Memorial Observance Ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA in remembrance of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Firefighters on Maui were among the many individuals across the nation who took time today to reflect upon the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in memorial and remembrance of the lives lost and brave actions of fellow first responders.

This was the third consecutive year that the hotel hosted the Patriot Day event. The observance included a Hawaiian blessing led by resort cultural advisor Makalapua Kanuha, and chant conducted by Keliʻi Arruda.

A solemn ceremony was held at the Kahului Fire Station on Tuesday in remembrance of the first responders and civilians that were killed as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon 11 years ago.

A September 11, Maui tribute will be held at the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas with a special ceremony at 7:45 a.m.

Members of the US Coast Guard Station on Maui joined Mayor Alan Arakawa in a remembrance ceremony today honoring those who lost thier lives 10 years ago in the terror attacks on US soil.

Maui joins the rest of the nation in remembrance of the lives lost and the unity going forward on the 10th anniversary of terrorist attacks on US soil. Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa is asking that the entire County observe a moment of silence at 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011.
