With Black Friday and Cyber Monday approaching, the state of Hawaiʻi Office of Consumer Protection is reminding consumers to review refund and exchange policies before making holiday purchases — and reminding businesses of their legal obligations under Hawaii’s refund statute.

The celebration begins at 11 a.m. on Black Friday, when the first 100 guests will receive a limited-edition Queen Kaʻahumanu Center gift.

Gov. Josh Green is giving state employees 16 hours of paid administrative leave “in recognition of the upcoming holiday season,” according to an announcement from the Office of the Governor.

The monthly Kīhei 4th Friday event was bustling on Black Friday with people holiday shopping from the local small business vendors set up in the Azeka Shopping Center parking lot.

Kīhei 4th Friday is a family-friendly event includes live music, food booths and trucks, art, crafts, and plenty of great local shopping.

The Shops at Wailea kicks off the holiday season on Black Friday with a host of festivities including a Santa Parade, photos with Santa, a community food drive, and a live concert from 14-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Mark Yamanaka.

Maui County will partner with the Maui Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the “Shop Small Maui” campaign, highlighted by “Small Business Saturday” on Nov. 30.

Now in its 10th year, Small Business Saturday, known locally as “Shop Small Saturday” is ready to ring in the Holidays with its annual event, strategically positioned between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Outlets of Maui, located oceanfront on Front Street in Lahaina, will kick off the holiday shopping season on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 a.m., and remain open until 10 p.m.
