Gov. Green approves Broadband Equity Access and Development state match plan

Gov. Josh Green, M.D., approved the use of $33 million in state funds for the state match plan for the Broadband Equity Access and Development grant program. Eight programs will be funded with this grant which will have a statewide impact on ensuring Hawai‘i’s goal toward universal broadband access. 

Hawaiʻi Digital Equity Plan public comment session scheduled Friday on Maui

A broadband public comment session on the Hawaiʻi Digital Equity Plan and the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Maui Economic Opportunity Family Center, 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku. The program works in tandem to propose solutions for individuals and communities impacted by the “digital divide.”

Hirono & Schatz Vote for $1.2 Trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that Passes Senate

US Sen. Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) and US Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) were among the 69 senators who voted for the $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which passed today.

Maui Bus Wifi Trial Project in Hāna 

Maui Managing Director Sandy Baz reports that the bus will be located in Hāna Bay for the next two weeks, from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

FCC Expands Broadband to Ha‘ikū, Hāna, Olowalu

Today the FCC announced that Hawaiian Telcom will receive $18.1 million over 10 years to expand high-speed broadband access to the most rural areas of Hawai‘i.
