Water treatment disinfection to change for Upper Kula water system on Sept. 6

Effective Sept. 6, the Department of Water Supply will change its water distribution disinfectant from chloramines to chlorine in the Upper Kula water system because of severe drought conditions Upcountry.

Boil Water Advisory update: Some areas of Kula removed from list

Areas where the boil water advisory is lifted are: a section of Kula Highway from Lepelepe Place to Mālamahale Place, Lepelepe Place, Malia Uli Place and Mālamahale Place.

The Maui County Department of Water Supply will switch its water distribution disinfectant from chloramines to chlorine beginning Jan. 10 in an attempt to clear away trace amounts of E. coli from the Upper Kula water system.

Water customers on the Upper Kula water system may notice a change in their water as the County Department of Water Supply switches the distribution system disinfectant from chlorine back to chloramines on or around Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
