Herman Andaya Jr. has been named the new administrator for the Maui Emergency Management Agency. He served as the interim administrator for the last six months.

The monthly test of the outdoor siren warning system and coordinated live audio broadcast of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for Jan. 3 at 11:45 a.m.

The name change was directed by voters who chose to change the agency’s title via charter amendment during the Nov. 8 General Election for the State of Hawaiʻi.

The Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency monthly test of the statewide outdoor siren warning system, coordinated with the test of the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at 11:45 a.m.

During a disaster, CERT volunteers may provide critical support to emergency responders by assisting with damage assessment information and helping victims until professional emergency responders arrive on scene.

The Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency monthly test of the statewide outdoor siren warning system is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at 11:45 a.m.

The monthly test of the Emergency Alert System sirens is scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11:45 a.m.

These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified time-frame.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program will offer training September through October Upcountry and in South Maui.

The upcoming meeting of the Pukalani Community Association features discussion with representatives from Maui Electric Company and the County of Maui Civil Defense department.

To update Maui County’s 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan, the Maui Civil Defense Agency encourages all residents to participate in a survey to assess their level of disaster preparedness.

The Maui County Hazard Mitigation Planning Steering Committee invites all Maui County residents to help update the countywide Hazard Mitigation Plan. A community meeting will be conducted to introduce the planning process on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kula Community Center.
