Maui Special Committee Makes Recommendation for New Government Structure

Instead of going with one or the other, the current proposal seeks a structure that would include both a county manager and an elected mayor.

Former Maui Mayor Tavares Invited in County Manager Discussion

The Special Committee, composed of community volunteers appointed by the council, will meet on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. in the Council Chamber in Wailuku.

Special Committee Meets Dec. 10 to Discuss County Manager Form of Government

The committee is tasked with providing the council with a written recommendation on whether establishing a county manager form of government would improve management and operation of the county. Their deadline to do so is by June 1, 2016.

County Manager Governance Details Narrowed, Committee to Reconvene

The County Committee on Public and Intergovernmental Affairs will reconvene on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber to further discuss a county manager form of government instead of one run by a mayor.
