Update: 350 still without power; initial outage impacted 6,900 customers from Pukalani to Hāna, Maui

Hawaiian Electric crews are currently working on repairs to damaged electrical equipment to restore a remaining 350 customers from Peʻahi to Nāhiku on Maui. Approximately 6,900 customers from the Pukalani to Hāna area experienced the outage starting around 6:40 a.m. 

UPDATE: Power Restored to 200 Customers in East Maui

A company spokesperson said a large tree fell and pinned down a span of power lines off of Hāna Highway. During a period of gusty winds and rain at around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, about 200 customers in parts of East Maui, including Keʻanae, Lower Nāhiku, Nāhiku Homesteads and parts of Hāna, experienced an overnight outage.

Power Outage Affects 6,530 Maui Customers

An estimated 6,530 customers lost power in areas stretching from Haʻikū to Hāna on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2015.

East Maui Power Restored

Maui Electric Company crews continue to investigate the cause of a power outage in East Maui that knocked out electricity for about 23 minutes this afternoon. The outage was first reported at 1:17 p.m., and all areas affected by the outage had power restored by 1:40 p.m., according to company officials.

BRIEF: Scheduled Power Outage: Haiku to Hana

Maui Electric Company will conduct a planned power outage starting at 9 a.m. today, and ending at 4 p.m. in parts of Hana and Haiku. The outage will affect sections of the Hana Highway from Ulumalu Road, including Huelo, Kailua, Keanae, Nahiku, and Aaeleku at Mile Marker 31.

Power Restored to Huelo, Nahiku and Hana

The outage stretched from Huleo to Hana town beginning shortly after 9 a.m. Power was restored to customers from Huelo to Nahiku at 11:46 a.m., and to remaining customers in Hana at around 1 p.m.
