Maui July Fourth aerial fireworks display in Lahaina; MFD issues fireworks reminders

A single public aerial fireworks display is scheduled on July Fourth, at 8 p.m. from a barge positioned offshore of Front St. in Lahaina. The sale of July Fourth fireworks begins on June 29, 2023 and ends on July 4, 2023 at 8 p.m., the County of Maui’s, Department of Fire and Public Safety announced.

Consumer fireworks can only be legally ignited from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Setting off fireworks outside designated times is punishable by law. Violations are subject to fines of up to $2,000

Funds Sought for Annual Lahaina July 4th Fireworks Display

The cost of the fireworks alone are upwards of $40,000, in addition to other expenses. In soliciting funds, the LTAC called the holiday celebration, “a major economic event for West Maui businesses,” saying the shops and restaurants benefit from the increased foot traffic, which was estimated at 20,000 in 2014.
