A fire along Pūlehu Road in Puʻunēnē on Maui has burned about 60 acres of light brush, and is 90% contained.

Fire crews are battling a new fire reported at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 in an area of brush near the new Hookele Safeway location behind Lowe’s and Target.

Pu‘unēnē Brush Fire Ruled Accidental

The 20 x 60 foot fire in Pu‘unēnē was caused by a utility pole guy wire that broke off & contacted a nearby power line, causing sparking from an electrical arc.
