Hawai‘i jobless rate dips to 2.2%; Maui County rate at 2.6% in November
Hawaiʻi’s statewide unemployment rate remained lower than the national average in November 2025.
Maui County July unemployment rate at 2.8%
In Maui County, the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8%, down from the 3.5% rate reported the month before, and the 4.3% rate reported at the same time last year. On Maui Island, the unemployment rate was 2.7%, down from 3.5% in June and down from 4.4% at the same time last year.

Maui County hotels trail the state in occupancy rates in November
Maui County hotels had the lowest occupancy rates of Hawai‘i’s four counties at 58.9%, more than 10 percentage points less than the statewide hotel occupancy rate of 69.2%. It’s further evidence that Maui “tourism is really suffering,” as University of Hawai‘i economics professor Carl Bonham said recently.
