Circuit Court Decision Upholds Lawfulness of Gov. Ige’s Emergency Proclamations
Circuit Court Judge Wendy M. DeWeese has dismissed a legal challenge to the Governor’s COVID-19 emergency proclamations. Governor David Ige signed a Fourteenth Supplementary Emergency Proclamation related to the state’s COVID-19 emergency on Oct. 13.
New Maui Rules Limit Social Gatherings to 10 People Max, Starting Friday July 31
Updated Public Health Emergency Rules that limit indoor and outdoor social gatherings to no more than 10 people, starting this Friday, July 31, 2020. The use of large structures that may attract gatherings, such as tents and pavilions, will be prohibited.
Governor’s 10th Supplementary Proclamation for COVID-19 (Updated 7.17.20)
On July 17, 2020, Governor David Ige signed his 10th emergency proclamation, which keeps the mandatory 14-day quarantine in effect for travelers entering the State of Hawai‘i. Under the proclamation, travelers arriving in Hawai‘i will continue to undergo a mandatory screening process at the airport.
Collaboration with Visitor Industry Underway to Enforce Emergency Rules
This week, four individuals have been arrested on O‘ahu for violating the State’s mandatory, 14-day, self-quarantine orders for everyone flying into Hawai‘i. Anyone arriving in Hawai‘i from out of state goes through a mandatory screening process, including filling out an Order for Self-Quarantine form. Depending on the island, processing of these forms is handled by the Department of Transportation and/or the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.
