Public meetings for CDBG-DR Action Plan to be held March 8, 11 and 14

More than $1.6 billion in CDBG-DR funding was appropriated by Congress to support recovery efforts stemming from the 2023 Maui wildfires. The funding will be provided to the County of Maui through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the allocation of nearly $12 billion in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funds for communities across 24 states and territories.  The County of Maui in Hawaiʻi received more than $1.6 billion for wildfires.

HUD extends foreclosure moratorium on Maui for affected borrowers impacted by 2023 wildfires

The Federal Housing Administration will extend the foreclosure moratorium through Aug. 4, 2024, to help homeowners impacted by 2023 wildfires. FHA is taking this action due to the extent of the devastation from the wildfires, the reduced capacity for borrowers to access needed resources, and the unique challenges associated with the geographic location of Maui.
