#kula highway closed

The state Department of Transportation is working on several road projects that will result in lane closures from July 31 to Aug. 6.

Lane closures this week include paving, guardrail and utility adjustments on the Honoapiʻilani Highway; and tree trimming work on the Kula Highway and Haleakalā Highway.

Here is a list of lane closures on Maui slated for this week (June 6 to June 12).

A flood advisory for Maui has been extended to 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Forecasters with the National Weather Service say radar at 9:20 p.m. showed that rainfall had diminished over the Windward East Maui area; but the flood advisory remains in effect as ponding and runoff continues from heavy rains earlier in the evening.

A hazardous material spill in Kula sent vapors into the air and forced the closure of a portion of road for nearly six-and-a-half hours on Tuesday before being contained at around 9 p.m. last night.

Kamehameiki Rd in Kula is now OPEN. The road was closed since 2:45 p.m. due to a hazardous material incident. Full details will be posted when the information becomes available. Authorities have not yet said what substance was involved.
