Property owners urged to apply for permits to rebuild nonconforming structures lost in 2023 wildfires

The County of Maui Department of Planning is encouraging property owners whose legally nonconforming structures were destroyed in the August 2023 wildfires to apply for building permits and begin the process of rebuilding.

Planning Department launches expedited SMA exemption process for Lahaina parcels

The County of Maui Department of Planning launched an expedited Special Management Area exemption process for parcels in the Lahaina Disaster Area.  The link went live Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, and the Planning Department has 20 exemptions in the pipeline. 

Lack of Quorum for Lahaina Sign Design Guidelines Meeting

The County of Maui Cultural Resources Commission has postponed its upcoming meeting on Sept. 4, due to lack of quorum, according to a county announcement.

Decisions Scheduled for Lahaina Sign Design Guidelines

The CRC could vote to approve the changes at the September 4 meeting, or if outstanding concerns remain and additional work is needed, then another meeting will be held in October.
